Hayson Wong (b. 1996, Hong Kong) has obtained her BA in Visual Arts from HK Baptist University in 2020 and graduated with an MFA at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2022. She dedicatedly practises abstraction in her oil paintings and her style of work is inspired by Cubism. She explores the subject matter of body, sex, desire, and the delicate state of the intimate relationship between people through her autobiographical paintings. By depicting her personal experiences, she uses the juxtaposition and dialogue of symbols and space to authentically reveal her fragility and extends to sensory imaginations and memory connections beyond painting. Viewing her works is similar to being in a chaotic and destructive cycle, passing through reality and hallucination, where she stares intently and is no longer falling into passivity.
